25e Symposium International – CCGrid

25th IEEE International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet Computing (CCGrid) in Norway

The 25th IEEE International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud, and Internet Computing (CCGrid) was held at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) in Tromsø, Norway, in May 2025. Among the notable events associated with this conference was the inaugural edition of the international workshop ContinuumRI.

The CCGRID Conference

The CCGrid conference took place from Tuesday, May 20 to Thursday, May 22, 2025. It brought together numerous participants, including several members of the PEPR Cloud, who presented their latest research findings, notably:

  • Presentation by Alexandru Costan: A workshop on the reproducibility challenges of federated learning (co-authors of the paper: Cédric Prigent, Kate Keahey, Loïc Cudennec, and Gabriel Antoniu).
  • Keynote by Christian Perez: Presentation of the European SLICES project, to which the PEPR Cloud’s SILECS project makes a significant contribution.

CCGrid 2025 was a rewarding event for exchanging insights on technological advances and current challenges in cluster, cloud, and internet computing.

Continuum RI Workshop

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the inaugural edition of the international ContinuumRI Workshop on research infrastructures for experimentation across the HPC-Cloud-Edge continuum took place.
This workshop was co-organized by Christian Perez (Inria), Gabriel Antoniu (Inria), Alexandru Costan (INSA Rennes), and Kate Keahey (ANL/University of Chicago). The agenda featured diverse sessions covering topics such as IoT orchestration and network operating systems, moderated by the organizers.

Workshop Agenda :

  • Session 1: Welcome by Christian Perez and invited presentation by Kate Keahey, who shared insights on building scientific instruments for the HPC-Cloud-Edge continuum.
  • Session 2: Presentations of selected papers on IoT orchestration, experimentation with network operating systems, and an end-to-end reservation system.
  • Session 3: Continuation of the selected paper presentations on the impact of quantization on inference speed and on IoT-Edge-Cloud-HPC experimentation using existing platforms. The session concluded with an invited talk by Gabriel Antoniu on the outlook of the international InPEx project, addressing challenges in building this continuum.oniu sur les perspectives du projet international InPEx sur des défis pour construire ce continuum.

This event provided an opportunity to discuss research infrastructures—from their design to their use—and their impact on the international scientific community.
